چکیده
In this work, the method of Fourier descriptors has been extended to produce a set of normalized coefficients which are invariant under any affine transformation (translation, rotation, scaling, and shearing). The method is based on a parameterized boundary description which is transformed to the Fourier domain and normalized there to eliminate dependencies on the affine transformation and on the start-

A Wavelet Based Method for Affine Invariant 2 D Object Recognition
Recognizing objects that have undergone certain viewing transformations is an important problem in the field of computer vision. Most current research has focused almost exclusively on single aspects of the problem, concentrating on a few geometric transformations and distortions. Probably, the most important one is the affine transformation which may be considered as an approximation to perspe...
متن کامل3D Recognition Using Affine Invariants
The size of 3D data stored around the web has become bigger. Therefore the development of recognition applications and retrieval systems of 3D models is important. This paper deals with invariants for 3D models recognition. Thus under general affine transform we propose in a first time determinants of three points to realize invariance under affinity. To solve starting point problem we needs Fo...
متن کاملLip-reading from parametric lip contours for audio- visual speech recognition
This paper describes the incorporation of a visual lip tracking and lip-reading algorithm that utilizes the affine-invariant Fourier descriptors from parametric lip contours to improve the audio-visual speech recognition systems. The audio-visual speech recognition system presented here uses parallel hidden Markov models (HMMs), where a joint decision, using an optimal decision rule, is made af...
متن کاملContour Retrieval and Matching by Affine Invariant Fourier Descriptors
In the image plane, a 3 Dimensional movement of planar rigid object can be represented satisfactory by an affine motion of his boundary (the exterior contour) which we assume to be closed. The object movement can be described by a special affine transformation of the plane IR 2 . The extraction of invariant features under affinities is important in such procedure. Recently we have proposed a ne...
متن کاملCorrelating Fourier descriptors of local patches for road sign recognition
The Fourier descriptors (FDs) is a classical but still popular method for contour matching. The key idea is to apply the Fourier transform to a periodic representation of the contour, which results in a shape descriptor in the frequency domain. Fourier descriptors are most commonly used to compare object silhouettes and object contours; we instead use this well established machinery to describe...
